I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus

When I published this song, here is what I wrote:

For many months this song was my 2 year old’s request every night before bed. I felt inspired to write a piano arrangement in dedication to her. So Talia, here you go! Mommy loves you despite the buttons of mine you push 🙂 I have learned that the more I act like Christ would with you, the kinder you are. Truly following in the Savior’s steps makes everyone around us happier.

Here is an update:

Alright, I'm getting personal. As I write this, this daughter is now 10 years old. We now know that she is a kid on the spectrum. She doesn't respond or learn or act like my other three kids. I have to work with all my might and the Lord's help to keep peace in our home with her. It is mentally and physically exhausting. Before I wrote, "following in the Savior's steps makes everyone around us happier." That is true but I've learned that the Savior needs to work different ways with different people because we all have different personalities, different strengths and weaknesses, and different life situations. That is why we are trying to be like Jesus. We don't know everything about everyone, we are humans learning and growing everyday. We are in a probationary time and it is a blessing. It will be a long time before we are perfect like Jesus but everyday we can develop attributes like him as we try.
