When I Am Baptized

I have wanted to do an arrangement of this song for a long time but I was kind of waiting for inspiration to strike. Well, strike it did and just in time for my son’s baptism this year! I wrote the violin/piano version first and really wanted a voice option too. So, I modified the music and created that also.

You’ll notice I did my signature signature 🙂  Yep, I changed it from 3/4 to 6/8. I may love 6/8 a little too much!

I’m hoping to get recording with a real violin when my sister-in-law comes into town next. For now, this will do. I hope you love this version as much as I do (I sit down just to play this all the time)!

  1. Just came across this arrangement due to a post on the LDS Choristers FB page. Absolutely gorgeous. The music is simple, yet so powerful. Looking to hopefully use it next year for the Primary Presentation if it is included with the songs for next year’s theme. Thank-you for making this available to use!

  2. I love it. The feel of the song reminds me of when the spirit bears witness to me and my heart quickens. I love that it portrays the excitement and testimony of a person about to make their first covenant with our Heavenly Father.

  3. We just sang your amazing arrangement in our Primary Program yesterday, and I can tell you there was barely a dry eye in the chapel! I had so many comments about how beautiful it was. Thank you so much for sharing your talents!

  4. Just wanted to say thank you for doing something so original. My Primary kids sang this for the program last year, and were amazing! And when it showed up again on the schedule for this year — they were amazing again. Today my daughter is singing it at the baptism of some family friends. So thank you for sharing your talents.

  5. Any chance you could send me a copy with the melody in bass clef? Or send me the file and I can do it. I have a bassoon student who needs to play for a baptism and she can’t transpose octaves (and I’d rather not have to write it out.) Thanks!

  6. Thank you so much for this arrangement.
My son’s piano teacher suggested this when we were looking for a musical number for our daughter’s baptism.
My son (12) is learning how to play piano and our daughter (9) is learning violin. Our 2 youngest (8 and 5) sang the song. Not only they perform during the baptism, but they were also asked to perform for the Primary program. Everyone just loved how it came together and we were all touched by the spirit that the music and the children brought to the meetings.
    Thank you sooo much again!

    • This melts my heart! Thank you for letting me know that so many people were touched by the music. When children perform music there is such a sweet spirit.

    • You could try it. In the violin version, the violin carries the melody so it will be playing a lot of the same notes that are being sung. If that doesn’t bother you, then I’d say go for it!
